Description:

Manufactured in 1879 as part of the second shipment of Smith & Wesson New Model Number Three revolvers intended for the Imperial Japanese Navy. Fixed sights, with the two-line address and patent markings on top of the rib, matching numbers on the barrel, latch, cylinder and butt, and the "anchor with two wavy lines" mark (believed to designate Kure Naval Base) on the underside of the frame ahead of the trigger guard. Fitted with a casehardened hammer, trigger, and trigger guard, a pair of smooth hardwood grips and a lanyard ring. The frame on the inside of the left grip frame is stamped "8 46" with rework diamond indicating if was returned to the factory in August of 1996.

Rating Definition:

Fine, as factory restored with 85% blue remaining showing areas of deep pitting scattered on the barrel, cylinder, and frame. Bright edge wear, light scratches and scattered handling marks overall. Grips are good, with some dents and scuffs. Mechanically very good.
