Description:

This Japanese matchlock pistol has a blued, permanently plugged, octagon barrel with round muzzle, a large flat top post front sight, and notched raised stud rear sight. The smooth lockplate, pan cover, band at the breech, trigger, and floral side pieces are brass. It is all mounted on a smooth, light colored, hardwood stock with some nicely figured carving at the forend. The ramrod is absent.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The barrel has a varied, pitted texture with a mostly even brown patina overall. A permanently installed molten lead plug filles the rear half of the bore rendering the pistol unfireable. The brass components have an aged patina with the color varying from from golden aged brass to dark brown. The dry wood is good and smooth with some slight hairline cracks on the grip most notably on the right side at the end as well as some minor marks/scratches overall. Mechanically fine.
