It is fitted with a dovetailed German silver blade front and notch rear sights with a "P" and "DERINGER/PHILADELA'' on the breech between silver bands. The barrel shows Derringer's signature striped finish; a proprietary metal treatment designed to emulate a Damascus twist pattern. The Derringer marking is repeated on the lock with scroll engraving on the tang, hammer, lock and bolster. Checkered birds head grip with German silver furniture with scroll engraving on the trigger guard, reverse and accent plates, blossom designs on the escutcheons, pineapple trigger guard finial, and inscription shield with a zig-zag bordered buttplate.

Excellent. The barrel shows 95% plus of the original brown finish, with some light spotting on the muzzle, a deep brown color overall and well detailed gray striping. Similar to bluing, Derringer's striping was a surface treatment only and could be worn off by use and handling. Few can be found with this amount remaining with most examples showing only traces or none at all. A dark patina covers the casehardened parts. With traces of color on the breech and lock. The stock is very good with a few light dents and some tiny chips around the lock plate. A small amount of verdigris is present around the breech bands and on some of the furniture. Mechanically excellent. An Exceptional original example of Derringer's pocket pistol in nearly unbeatable condition.
