Description:

Manufactured from 1863 to 1865. Dual ignition six-shot cylinder; combination percussion 31 caliber with removable nipples to convert to 32 rimfire. This revolver retains all 6 nipples. The top barrel flat is marked "J. REID N.Y. CITY/PATD. APL. 28. 1863.", the serial number is marked on the butt and right grip panel and the partial serial number is marked on the loading lever and rammer. The Model 4 features include the requirement of a wrench to loosen barrel and partially unscrew to remove cylinder, loading lever under the barrel and exposed barrel threads between front of cylinder and frame. Loading gate on the right side of the frame which swivels upward. Blue barrel and cylinder, sliver plated frame, casehardened loading gate and hammer and rosewood grips.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 95% original blue finish and the cylinder retains scattered traces of original blue with the balance a smooth brown patina. The frame retains 75% original silver plating. Traces of original case colors remaining on the loading lever and hammer. The grips are excellent showing a few mild handling marks with most of the varnish remaining. Mechanically excellent.
