Description:

Manufactured circa 1862-63 by C.R. Alsop of Middletown, Conn., it is estimated that only about 500 of these revolvers were manufactured. This is the Standard Model lacking the safety device on the frame. The top barrel flat is marked "C. R. ALSOP MIDDLETOWN CONN./PATENTED JULY 17th. AUGUST 7th. 1860 MAY 14th. 1862" and "C.R. ALSOP. PATENTED/NOV. 26th 1861" on the cylinder. Brass cone front sight and there is a sighting groove along the top of the frame. Blue finish with casehardened loading lever and hammer, and fitted with smooth walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The revolver retains 20% scattered original blue finish mixed with brown patina, and showing a few dents and some minor oxidation. The grips are good as revarnished showing a small chip on the upper left side, and a few minor cracks, dings and dents. The action needs work, the cylinder does not rotate when the hammer is cocked. The markings are clear.
