Manufactured circa 1857 into the early 1860s with an estimated production between 500 and 1,500 of all models. This revolver is a Transition Type with the sliding type cylinder pin. Marked "ALLEN & WHEELOCK" on the top strap and "PATENTED/APRIL 16, 1845" on the left side of the hammer. The five shot cylinder is rolled with a forest scene containing one dog chasing a running buck with another dog and a doe in the background. The matching serial (batch) number is marked on the lower left rear barrel flat, on the hammer spring, on the cylinder, inside each grip panel and on the inside of the trigger guard. Manufactured without sights, all blue finish and fitted with smooth varnished walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver is a mix of 40% original bright blue finish and smooth brown patina. The grips are very fine with 99% plus original varnish remaining, showing a few minor dings and handling marks. The markings and cylinder scene are clear. The action is fine.
