Description:

Manufactured circa 1885. This lock plate is marked "HUDSON'S BAY/COMPANY" ahead of the hammer. Engraved scrollwork is featured on the rear of the lock plate, hammer, barrel tang and trigger guard. The top barrel flat is marked "THE BEAVER." It is mounted with a checkered straight grip half stock with single barrel wedge, blank silver initial oval, and pewter forend tip. Complete with a brass tipped wooden ramrod.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel and buttplate have a smooth dark gray patina with a lighter gray patina on the remaining metal surfaces. Some mild flash pitting is present. The stock is good as period revarnished with a number of minor handling marks, a missing minor chip near the stock toe and some blemishes in the checkering. Mechanically fine.
