Description:

This is an attractive 3 1/2 inch long British brass barreled flintlock blunderbuss with a "crown/G.R." in front of the cock on the lockplate and a faint "R" visible at the tail of the lockplate. Similar examples have been seen with "TOWER" marked vertically designating the armory in the Tower of London. It has a two stage barrel with a flared muzzle with floral engraving on the top at the breech and the other components was likely done at a later date. It is fitted with a straight grip stock with a multi-point checkered pattern with dots similar to a pineapple. The front of the trigger guard has a hole for a sling swivel. Includes a wooden ramrod with brass tip.

Rating Definition:

Good. The brass finishes have an attractive aged patina with clear engraving. The moderately pitted lock has a gray patina with some brown spotting and faint markings. There are some marks, dings, scratches, and pitting throughout. The wood is good with a pin absent and the barrel fitted loosely. A forend ramrod tube is absent. There are various minor dings, dents, and scratches throughout with a gap in front of the lockplate and a hairline crack at extending back from the left rear of the ramrod tube finial. The action is functional.
