The first slide action rifle ever produced by Winchester, designed by John and Matthew Browning. This is a Second Model 1890 manufactured in 1905 with the blued frame variation and fixed sights on an octagon barrel marked with the two line New Haven address and patent dates with "22 WRF" at the breech. The three line model and trademark information is stamped on the upper tang, with the serial number on the lower tang. Mounted with a straight grip stock, casehardened crescent buttplate and hammer, and 12 groove slide handle.

Very fine The rifle retains 70% of the original finish and case colors with slide wear, some scratches and marks on the barrel, wear on the edges of the frame as well as various scratches, and a brown patina on the buttplate and exposed areas on the tangs and trigger guard. The wood is fine with some minor dings, scratches and marks. Mechanically excellent.
