Manufactured in 1957, this example is the deluxe version of the Model 71 carbine. It has a ramp blade front sight (hood absent), a removed rear sight with a filler block in the rear sight slot, an adjustable Lyman peep sight mounted to the receiver, and 3/4 length magazine. Standard barrel markings, with the factory proof on the barrel and receiver and serial number on the frame underside. Checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with end cap, leather sling on quick release sling swivels, factory hard rubber pistol grip cap, and red recoil pad on the buttplate.

Very fine as partially refinished. This rifle retains 95% of the original finish with some high edge wear, minor marks and scratches. The receiver mounted sight is bent and incomplete. The revarnished stock and forearm are very fine with crisp checking and some minor scratches and marks. The crudely fitted oversized buttplate recoil pad has some wear on the edges. Mechanically excellent.
