The lower tang is marked "16" just ahead of the trigger with the serial number on the lower front of the frame. The front of the frame at the top and the top of the barrel at the breech are both marked with Winchester's "WP" proof stamp. The upper tang is marked "WINCHESTER/-TRADEMARK-/-MADE IN THE USA-". It is fitted with a smooth straight wrist stock with a metal forend cap and a serrated buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The rifle retains 30% of the blue finish present mostly on the barrel, finish retention on the forend cap, and some finish remaining on the tangs and the rear of the frame. There is a half dollar size spot of pitting present on the barrel foreward of the forend cap that has been cold blued. The frame has an attractive silver patina with some brown patina forming at the hind areas and on the receiver. The butt plate has some oxidation and minor pitting. The wood remains very fine with only some minor dings and marks. The action is functional.
