Manufactured in the early 1900s. William Evans was a former employee of Purdey until 1871 and went to work for Holland & Holland until 1883. Some time there after Evans set up his own gun making company. The company is still in business today. Single beaded sight on the solid matte rib with a dolls head extension and with ejectors. The top of the right barrel near the breech is marked "WILLIAM EVANS" and "63 PALL MALL, ST JAMES'S LONDON" on the left. The underside of each barrel is marked with the matching serial number, "FULL/CHOKE, "P", British proof and "2 3/4 SHELL". The flats are marked "NITRO PROOF" "1 1/2", "12/C" in a diamond, "CHOKE" and with various British proof marks. Each side of the water table is marked with the serial number and a "crown/V" proof. The action, lock plates, break lever, trigger guard and forearm hardware are lightly engraved with a geometric border. Each side plate is marked "WILLIAM EVANS" and the serial number is on the lower tang. 2 3/4 inch chambers. Bores measure .773 (right) and .773 (left), the wall thickness is .020 (right) and .022 (left), the bore constriction is .052 (right) (Full) and .052 (left) (Full). Casehardened action and side plates, with blue on the remaining metal surfaces. Double triggers, tang mounted automatic safety with gold "SAFE" and mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut splinter forearm and round knob pistol grip stock with a solid Pachmayr recoil pad and silver initial oval. Measurements: Weight - 7 pounds 13.8 ounces, length of pull - 13 7/8 inches, drop at comb - 1 1/2 inches, drop at heel - 2 1/8 inches, cast off - 3/8 inch, toe out - 3/4 inch.

Very fine as professionally refinished with 98% blue and casehardened finish remaining, showing a couple of minor dings on the left barrel and some high edge wear. The wood remains very good as refurbished with a few light handling marks, a few minor bruises and dings in the forearm checkering, and overall crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
