Description:

This is a representative example of a mid-production, pre-WWII Japanese Baby Nambu pistol as manufactured by the Tokyo Koishikawa Arsenal. These were a private purchase pistol as usually carried by high ranking Japanese Army and Navy Officers. The matching serial numbers are visible on the underside of the bolt, the back side of the cocking knob, the back of the magazine, and on the inside of the left grip panel with no number on the right side. The magazine has a nickel-plated body with an aluminum base, that is correctly numbered "1879" and matching to the pistol. The top of the chamber area bears the four intertwined cannon balls of the Tokyo Arsenal and the right side of the receiver has the Japanese Kana markings over the serial number "1879". This pistol has a high quality rust blue finish and straw colored trigger, magazine release, sear pivot pin and bolt lock with a bright finished bolt, with checkered hardwood grips. This pistol is complete with a high quality reproduction Baby Nambu leather holster and shoulder strap. The holster closely resembles an original and makes a nice compliment to the pistol. The Baby Nambu is perhaps the most desirable WWII Japanese semi-automatic pistol.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear mixed with some slight browning and oxidation on the grip straps. The top, front right side of the slide has a small patch of fine pitting mixed with cold blue touch up, some blue loss and oxidation. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice visible checkering on both grips showing minor wear across the tops of the checkering mixed with some minor pressure dents on the sides. The holster is in like new condition. As noted this pistol has matching numbers to include the one magazine.
