Description:

This is an example of a World War II Type 2 Japanese takedown "Paratrooper" rifle produced by the Nagoya Arsenal. These rifles were based on the Type 99 rifle series and were designed with a removable barrel. The purpose for that was they could be stored in a canvas jump bag (not included) when they jumped out of the airplane. The top of the receiver originally had the Chrysanthemum and Kanji markings for "2/Rifle". The left side of the barrel takedown mechanism or attaching section is marked with the assembly number (921) and on the left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number (1221) and the Nagoya Arsenal factory mark. It has the later production tangent rear sight graduated to 1,500 meters with thin anti-aircraft wings, peep sight and an inverted "V" front with guards. It has a two-piece stock with a cupped buttplate and side mounted sling swivels. The front barrel band has two screws and the rear has a slot in the top. The takedown hardware is matching on the side plates and the bolt extractor and cocking knob match the rifle. The bolt handle is the correct plum shaped version and it is fitted with a sheet metal dust cover, standard late war hardwood stock with the large drain hole on the bottom rear of the barrel section. With a brass push on muzzle cover and cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, 85% plus of the original blue finish remains with some muzzle cover and high edge wear with some scattered spotting and the mum has been ground. The stock is also very fine with scattered scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent.
