Description:

This is a mid-production WWII Japanese Type 2 Paratrooper rifle. These rifles were manufactured at the Toriimatsu factory under the Nagoya Arsenal. The top of the receiver has a ground off Royal Chrysanthemum over the Kanji markings for Type 2/ Rifle. The receiver side wall is stamped with the mid-production serial number (13265) along with the Nagoya Arsenal factory mark. The front and rear halves of the takedown mechanism (breech and receiver and left side of the barrel) are correctly matching and have the same matching assembly number (557). It has the late production tangent peep rear sight graduated from 400-1500 meters with the thin anti-aircraft wings and an inverted "V" front sight with guards. The front barrel band is the two screw model, and the rear is the later plain slotted pattern. It has the correct plum shaped pattern bolt that has matching numbers including on the extractor, firing pin and cocking knob. It is fitted with the late war two-piece hardwood stock with a one piece handguard. The stock has the correct side mounted sling swivels with the drain hole in front of the trigger guard and a cupped steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% plus of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear and thinning on the top of the receiver along with the area where the chrysanthemum was ground off. The wood components are all in very fine condition with their original finish showing the late war rough turned wood with minor handling marks and light pressure dents on the sides. A very fine condition WWII Japanese Type 2 paratrooper rifle.
