This is an exceptionally nice and original prewar Army Special Model revolver. These revolvers were the successor to the Model 1892-1903 New Army and New Navy revolvers and sported a more modern frame style with a rounded cylinder thumb latch. This specific pistol was produced in 1926. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. PAT'D AUG 5, 1884, JUNE 5 1900, JULY 4 1905" and the side of the barrel is marked "COLT ARMY/SPECIAL .38". It has a fixed blade front and notched rear sights with a polished hammer and mother of pearl grips. Includes factory box, with "PEARL BLUE" end label numbered to the gun, and Colt factory letter dated 12/19/2013. The letter confirms the configuration, pearl grips, and that it was shipped to Sheriff H.A. Olderog County of Sarpy, Nebraska on February 10, 1926.

Very fine, with 80% plus faded original blue finish, some minor handling marks, and some visible high edge wear, primarily at the muzzle, front of frame, and front of cylinder, consistent with holstering. There is a faint drag line on the cylinder. Grips are excellent. Box is good, with signs of wear and a tear in one of the side panels. Mechanically excellent.
