Description:

As manufactured in late 1913, this wonderful pistol has the high polish commercial blue finish as was applied to Colt Government Model pistols. Interestingly this early pistol is also British proofed on the left rear side of the slide, frame and top of the chamber area of the barrel. The front grip strap is finely engraved (non-factory) "A1282". It has the early rounded low profile rear sight with the narrow half moon front sight. The frame has the Type III magazine catch lock with the correct short, wide spur checkered hammer with smooth rear edge, checkered slide stop, and thumb safety. It has the early inward punched recoil plug. It is fitted with an all blue barrel with only a single "J" proof on the left side. The pistol is fitted with the early two-tone magazine with the lanyard loop on the base plate as adopted in mid-1913. The right side of the frame is marked "GOVERNMENT MODEL" and the serial number "C4625" is stamped on the left side of the frame. The top of the frame is stamped with "1" in front of the disconnector hole and a "S" behind it. The right side of the slide is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBER 45" below the ejection port. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block 1897, 1902, 1905 and 1911 patent dates and address with the circled Rampant Colt behind the serrations.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 97% of the original factory high polish blued finish overall. The grips are also excellent with nice sharp checkering on both sides. Mechanically excellent. A really nice, high condition early Colt Government Model pistol.
