Manufactured in 1886, this example has the barrel marked with the two line address/Elliot's patent dates, "38 Cal." at the breech, and fitted with a blade front and sporting rear sight. The left side of the frame is marked with the Rampant Colt. The serial number is located on the lower tang. Mounted with a checkered walnut forearm and smooth straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate. This example has a slide release on the front of the trigger guard.

Fair The rifle retains traces of the original finish with a mixture of brown and gray patina on the balance and various minor scratches, scrapes, and marks throughout. One screw on the frame is a brass replacement. The wood is very good with various minor scratches and dings. The forearm has a hairline crack on the right front. Mechanically fine with clear markings. Small slivers are absent on the buttstock at the junction with the frame and there is a small dent in the bottom of the butt.
