Manufactured by the Axtell Rifle Company, (Riflesmith Inc.) of Sheridan, Montana, this reproduction of the Sharps 1877 rifle features a globe front sight, no rear barrel sight, a base for a tang sight and a long range tang sight mounted on the top of the stock 1 5/8" from the heel. The top of the barrel is marked --MODEL 1877-- AXTELL RIFLE CO. SHERIDAN MONT." and "CALIBER 45 2 1/10" on the left side at the breech. The barrel is blue and the action, lever and hammer are casehardened. Checkered hammer and trigger and fitted with a walnut checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with an ebony forend and grip insert, and black plastic Axtell checkered buttplate.

Excellent plus. The rifle retains 99% plus blue and casehardened finishes with a small area of light spotting on the muzzle end of the barrel, otherwise light handling marks. The wood is also excellent plus with only slight handling/storage marks. Mechanically excellent.
