Manufactured in 1940 (receiver). The carbine is chambered in 300 H&H Magnum, a special order caliber for Pre-64 Model 70 carbines. Hooded ramp front sight and Williams filler block in the rear sight dovetail slot on a barrel marked with the Winchester legend followed by "300 MAGNUM" (the first type caliber marking for the 300 H&H Magnum) and the two-line address on the right side. The left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech are stamped with a Winchester factory style oval proof. "-SUPER GRADE-" is marked on the floor plate. The receiver is tapped for scope mounting at the front and has a Lyman sight (stock inletted). Polished bolt numbered to the gun, pre-war safety, cloverleaf receiver tang and quick release sling swivels. The nicely figured straight comb pistol grip stock features multi-point checkering, ebony forend tip, Winchester hard rubber grip cap, cheekpiece and checkered steel buttplate.

Very fine as professionally refurbished/restored. The carbine retains nearly all of the blue finish showing the slightest handling marks. The stock is near mint with a shallow gouge on the forend cap and a few light handing marks with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
