Contracted by J.T. Hodge and A.M. Burton of the Trenton Locomotive and Machine Co. in Trenton New Jersey. The barrel is secured by three barrel bands each with the "U" marking. The barrel is marked at the breech "1863" on the top flat and "V/P/Eagle head" with "N.J" on the left barrel flat. Lock marked with the eagle motif and "U.S./TRENTON" to the right of the hammer and dated "1864" to the rear. Finished with a smooth oiled walnut stock with "Co. C" marked on the right side of the butt, a "N.J" cartouche on the left flat, and a steel buttplate marked "US" on the top. Includes a trumpet head ramrod and a "US" marked bayonet with 18 inch blade and a black leather scabbard with brass tip.

Rating Definition:

Very good as cleaned and re-oiled. The metal surfaces are mostly bright with some minor marks, scratches, and some small amounts of light spotting. The buttplate is a little more worn with some marks and a more gray patina. The lock plate also has a slightly gray patina with some golden patina around the hammer. The re-oiled wood is very good with various minor dings, dents, and scratches. Mechanically fine with clear markings. The scabbard is in very good condition with an aged patina on the tip which has some dings and dents and scarcely aged leather.
