Scarce Whitney Arms "Two Trigger" Percussion Revolver

Manufacturer: Whitney Arms Company
Model: Two Trigger
Type: Revolver
Gauge: 32
Barrel: 5 inch octagon
Finish: blue/silver
Grip: walnut
Stock:
Item Views: 1383
Serial Number:
Class: Antique
Description:

One of approximately 650 manufactured circa 1852-1854, the Whitney Two-Trigger was designed to get around Colt's patents, using a manually rotated cylinder with no nipple partitions. A spring loaded trigger outside of the trigger guard is responsible for cylinder lockup; it is pulled to free the cylinder for manual advancement, released to engage the stop. Brass pin front and hammer notch rear sights, with "E.WHITNEY N.HAVEN CT" on the top barrel flat, etched scroll and naval themes on the cylinder "PATENT APPLIED FOR" on the right side of the frame and smooth grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good. Traces of the blue finish are present, with a mixed brown and gray patina overall, pitting on the muzzle and rear cylinder face, scattered dings and scratches, and mild handling marks overall. 20% of the original silver is present on the frame, concentrated around the grips, with a number of dings and dents. The grips are fair, with "1500" carved into the butt, varnish loss and dents. Mechanically needs adjustment.
