Description:

Manufactured from 1861 to 1863, also known as the "Seven Shooter" with a total production estimated at 5,000 to 8,000. The top barrel flat is marked "D. MOORE.PATENT.SEPT. 18. 1860" and the one line patent marking is on the cylinder. Standard broad scroll engraving on the silver-plated brass frame, recoil shields and back strap, star burst on the trigger guard and simple line engraving and scallop border on the butt. Seven-shot cylinder with removable ejector rod mounted under the barrel. "Z 59" is marked on the rear face of the cylinder. Brass cone front sight, hammer notch rear sight and fitted with a smooth one piece varnished walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel and cylinder retain generous amounts of darkened original blue finish with a smooth gray and brown patina on the balance. The frame retains 80% of the original silver plating with wear on the high points and back strap. The grips are also very good with some minor wear on the lower edges, some chips in the varnish and a few minor dings. The markings and engraving are clear. The action is fine.
