Description:

Manufactured from 1891 to 1911 with a total production of only 2,000 the "Mexican Model" is one of the most highly sought after and least observed antique S&W models. This revolver is in the scarce Mexican Model configuration identified by the spur trigger not integral as part of the frame, no half cock position and flat side hammer. Many of these revolvers were shipped to Mexico, Russia and South America. The top of the barrel rib is marked two line, two block address and patent dates flaking "MODEL OF 91" and with Maltese crosses on each end. Pinned blade front and notch rear sights, nickel finish with casehardened hammer and checkered hard rubber S&W grips. Accompanied by a factory letter dated 2014 that confirms the configuration of this rare revolver and states it was shipped on April 18, 1895 to M.W. Robinson New York, N.Y. The letter also states that at the time of the shipment the revolver had "checkered black hard rubber extension grips". It is quite rare that this revolver was sold domestically.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus to near new and without question the finest example we have cataloged. The revolver retains 96% plus original nickel finish overall showing only very slight storage type surface scratches and mild frosting. The hammer still exhibits much of its original and brilliant casecolors. The grips are excellent. The barrel address is sharp and crisp. A collectors dream come true: a chance to own the best.
