These consecutively serial numbered and engraved matching Holland & Holland shotguns were manufactured circa 1900. They feature fine floral scroll engraving on the locks, frame, break lever and trigger guard. The break lever also has a gold inlaid "1" (this gun) and "2" ("B" gun). Each lock is marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" and the underside of the frame is marked "ROYAL/HAMMERLESS/EJECTOR". There is a single bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib which has a 1 1/2 inch wedge of the same floral scroll pattern on the breech end and a gold inlaid "1" and "2" respectively. The top of right barrel near the breech is marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" and ""98. NEW BOND STREET. LONDON." on the left side. The matching serial number is marked on the lower tang, each side of the water table, on the underside of each barrel and on the forearm hardware. There are two "crown/V" proofs on the water table. The barrel flats are marked with and the flats with various British proofmarks, as well as "12/c" in a diamond, "CHOKE", "NITRO PROOF" and "1 1/8 OZ MAXIMUM" on each side. Tang mounted automatic safety with gold "SAFE", gold inlaid cocking indicators, and a single trigger. Mounted with a multi-point checkered nicely figured walnut splinter forearm and straight grip stock with tear drop flats, gold initial oval inscribed with a crown over "E.di P." and a leather covered solid recoil pad. 2 1/2 inch chambers, the chokes gauge at a loose cylinder/improved cylinder with ejectors. Complete in an oak and leather case, with brass corner protectors, brass disk on the lid, and leather straps and handle. There is a leather patch on the lid that is embossed "E. di P.". The interior of the case is lined with green velvet. There are four labels affixed to the inside of the lid. The first be a leather Armeria E. Casciano agent for Holland & Holland label, a leather Holland & Holland Ltd. Label, a paper gun cleaning and lubrication label and a paper measurements label listing these shotguns by serial number. No information has been provided at the time of writing as to the monogram. Measurements: weight - 6 pounds 10.2 ounces, length of pull - 15 inches, drop at comb - 1 1/2 inches, drop at heel - 2 3/8 inches.

Very fine as period refurbished with a couple of small areas of minor spotting and a few tiny dings on the barrels. Most of the case colors remain on the locks, while the frame has a smooth gray patina. The wood shows some minor scuffs and handling marks, and crisp checkering. The markings and engraving are crisp and clear. Mechanically fine. The case is good with age cracking and staining on the exterior leather and some mild contact wear on the lining.
