Description:

This style of helmet was used in the Battle of the Bulge during the winter of 1944. The exterior has splotches of mottled white paint applied over the original finish, with the decals blacked out and a wide hexagonal chicken wire mesh mounted; while the Germans were innovators in general issue camouflage, most helmet camo was done in the field by the soldiers themselves, with this being a good example of such work. This helmet is an "ET64", lot number "4156" with a unit and division marked chin strap "L.B.A. 9.battr, I/flak. Regt. 43". Flak Regiment 43 was responsible to provide air support to the 15th Army that was in the location. Regiment 43 part of the 1st Flak Brigade was responsible to provde air support for the 15th Army. They were part of III Flak Core and under the oversight of General Model of Army Group B. Army Group B was under express order not to use ammunition on ground targets unless absolutely necessary or for rapid elimination ground targets. A helmet that if it could speak would speak novels. The inside of the helmet is a Luftwaffe blue with an aluminum liner band. The helmet has the name "Pannier" painted on the underside of the brim.

Rating Definition:

Fine with some minor paint loss and few broken wires. The inside leather liner is very good with some minor handling marks.
