Description:

Measuring 45 1/4 inches in overall length, this sword is one of a group produced by Eickhorn for use as showroom display items, with one such display pictured in LTC. Thomas Johnson's Collecting the Edged Weapons of the Third Reich Volume VI. Though significantly larger that most field examples, the sword follows the general pattern of a knightly arming sword, featuring a 37 inch long double edged blade, with a 3 1/2 inch rectangular cross-section ricasso, a lozenge profile overall, and a set of short, wide single fullers. On the obverse is an 18 3/4 inch etched panel, with a golden Eickhorn Nazi-era logo next to "Original Eickhorn Blanke Waffen (Bright Steel Weapon)". The grip is solid metal with an 8 inch long guard, decorated in an art-deco oak leaf pattern and capped with ram's head quillions, with a skull topped with a laurel crown on the obverse center and a woman with a crown of flowers on the reverse. The grip area is decorated with a pair of angels, with the reverse angel clad in a flowing dress and bearing an olive branch and the obverse angel fully armored with a long sword at hand. The pommel is shaped as a crown, with oak leaf and acorn accents and a flared nut for the tang.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with a few small patches of spotting on the blade and mild handling marks overall.
