According to the included copy of a factory letter, this pistol was one of a shipment of 2200 shipped to the Springfield Armory on May 22, 1942. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block address/patent marking with the Rampant Colt in the center and a single "P" on top of the slide in front of the rear sight. The left side of the frame has the boxed "W.B." inspection initials and "P" below the magazine release. The right side has "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number and "M1911A1 U.S. ARMY" ahead of the slide stop hole. It has the wide checkered spur hammer, checkered thumb safety, slide release and arched main spring housing. Blued barrel marked "COLT 45 AUTO" on the left side of the chamber, "P" on the left side of the lug and "G" ahead of it. The grips are the earlier checkered brown plastic pattern, without the reinforcement ribs. The full blue magazine is marked "19200-/ ASSY 5508694/ MFR. 1M291" on the base.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% of the original parkerized finish showing mild handling marks and fading concentrated on the high edges. Light polishing is visible on the exposed section of the chamber with the barrel retaining 70% blue. The grips are excellent with sharp checkering. Magazine is later production. Mechanically excellent.
