Description:

This example of a U.S. Colt Model 1917 DA revolver was manufactured in 1918. The revolver has blue finish and oil finished walnut grips. The top of the hammer is blued and the sides are polished bright. Standard markings ahead of the lanyard swivel and "No. 114/598" is stamped behind. The left side of the frame is stamped with the "Eaglehead/S18" Ordnance inspection mark. Colt manufactured 154,802 Model 1917 DA revolvers under government contract between October 1917 and February 1919. These revolvers were widely issued during both World War I and World War II.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 90% plus of the brush blue finish with thinning on the bottom of the trigger guard and grip straps. The balance of the revolver finish shows only very minor handling wear. All of the Colt and Ordnance markings are crisp. There is an added unidentified non-factory stamp "J.J. Palmer's sons" on left side of frame. The action functions perfectly. The grips are in excellent condition with a few very minor handling marks. This is an excellent example of a key U.S. martial Colt revolver.
