Description:

This is fine early WWII Colt manufactured M1911A1 semi-automatic pistol that is accompanied by an original WWII brown leather M7 shoulder holster. The pistol was manufactured in 1943, and it has the standard two block, two line, Colt address and patent dates on the left side with the Rampant Colt horse logo in the middle of the markings. The frame has the correct "G.H.D" inspectors initials stamped in front of the left grip with the "P" proof below the magazine release button and on top of the slide. The slide is numbered "919998" under the firing pin stop, and it is fitted with the early checkered thumb safety, slide stop lever and arched mainspring. It has the early Colt, brown plastic, checkered grip panels with the reinforcing webs inside and a single mold number on each grip. It is fitted with the correct barrel that is marked "COLT 45 AUTO" with a single "P" proof on the lug on the left side. It is complete with a WWII M7 shoulder holster that is marked "U.S./BOYT/43" on the back side. The consignor stated that this pistol was carried by a tanker during WWII and the Battle of the Bulge, (however, no documentation accompanies this lot).

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 90% plus of the original parkerized finish overall with edge and high spot wear with thinning on the front edges of the slide, the front grip strap, grip safety and mainspring housing. The grips are also excellent condition with nice distinct checkering overall with no visible handling marks. The holster is in good condition showing considerable use with most of the leather finish worn off with tight stitching and clear markings. A nice early WWII Colt M1911A1 pistol.
