Description:

Manufactured in 1915, with blade front and flat top rear sights. The left side of the slide bears the three line patent dates/Colt marking block, "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY/U.S.A." and the flaming ordnance grenade proof, and the right side shows the Springfield American eagle and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY." in sans-serif letters. The grenade proof is repeated by the magazine catch with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the left side of the dust cover. It is fitted with a long smooth trigger, checkered wide hammer, checkered slide stop and thumb safety, short grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard staple, a pair of checkered grips, a correct Springfield folded base magazine and a "S" and "P" marked barrel lug.

Rating Definition:

Fine as refinished with 85% of the current blue, areas of mild pitting, light handling marks, and patches of brown patina. A deep quarter-inch dent is present on the right side of the frame above the trigger guard, possibly a factory machining error, and the rear sight is an extra-high custom replacement. The grips are very good as reoiled with some dings and chips. Mechanically good.
