Description:

Approximately 7,366 Model 1883 shotguns manufactured by Colt between 1883 and 1895, with this shotgun being manufactured in 1890. Double bead sights on the solid matte rib with single line Colt address. 2 3/4 inch chambers, choked improved cylinder/cylinder with extractor. Brown Damascus barrels and casehardened frame. "PATENTED/AUG. 22., SEP. 19. 1882" marked on bottom of action. Light scallop border engraving on the action, trigger guard, and lower tang. Mounted with a checkered walnut forearm with ebony forend insert and pistol grip stock with a checkered horn Rampant Colt buttplate and silver initial oval. 14 inch length of pull.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrels retain 70% original brown finish with almost all of the Damascus pattern remaining. 30% original dark case colors remain on the frame in protected areas with a smooth silver gray patina on the balance. The wood is also fine with some scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The checkering remains crisp. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent.
