Description:

This shotgun is marked tops marked "H. WESTPHAL IN PEINE" on the top of each barrel followed by a "KRUPP/German eagle/STAHL" in a circle. The shotgun has fine engraving at the breech of the barrel and all the other metal components with the exception of the serrated horn buttplate. The right side of the action has a forest scene with three deer. The left side displays a forest scene with four birds. A dog is present on the bottom of the trigger guard and there is scroll engraving on the remaining areas. The serial number is marked below "U.R.G.M." on the upper tang and inside the action it is marked "1060". It has a single silver bead sight, double triggers, tang safety, and is choked extra full and improved cylinder with chambers for 2 3/4 inch shells. The length of pull is 14 3/4 inches. It is fitted with a checkered pistol grip cheek rest stock and forearm with contrasting break lever and a matching contrasting piece on the rear of the trigger guard. There is a sling swivel on the barrel with one absent on the stock.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrels retain 70% of the original finish with some areas of thinned or worn finish and some spotted oxidation, marks, and scratches. There is a dark gray patina on the remaining metal surfaces. The wood is good with a piece absent on the upper right side edge of the forearm, some cloudy varnish on the right side of the butt as well as a few small cracks extending from the sling swivel hole and various minor pressure dents, scratches. The engraving is sharp and the checkering crisp. Mechanically fine.

Description:

The barrels are marked "H. WESTPHAL" on right and "IN PEINE" on left and, engraved with "H. WESTPHAL A PEINE" on top of the frame. It has a single brass bead sight on the solid matte rib with a sling swivel, 2 3/4 inch chambers with extractors, choked cylinder/cylinder, and double triggers. It has scroll engraving overall except on the barrels which have a line of scroll engraving at the breech and an overall brown/white Damascus pattern. Mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut forearm with scroll engraved forend cap and a checked pistol grip stock with cheek piece, grip cap, buttplate, and a sling swivel absent on the stock. The break lever is a contrasting horn piece below the forearm. The serial number is engraved on the buttplate and on the forearm below the barrels. Length of pull is 13 3/4 inches.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrels retain 80% of the Damascus pattern with some brown patina at the breech, muzzle, and ahead of the forearm cap. Some case colors are present on the interior of the action with an otherwise gray patina on the remaining metal surfaces with some pitting on the trigger guard and grip gap and dark spots on the buttplate. The wood is good with scattered minor pressure dents and scratches and crisp checkering. The engraving is sharp. Mechanically fine
