Manufactured by August Mentel of Kassel, Germany, this drilling features a blade front sight with brass bead on the solid matte rib, pop-up rear sight and claw mount scope bases. The top of the rib is marked "AUGUST MENTEL KASSEL". The receiver was casehardened and is lightly engraved and marked "RVDBW &MH *" over a Blacksmith Anvil in an oval logo. The upper shotgun barrels are 16 gauge and the rifle barrel is 7.8 x 57 R. Double triggers, greener safety mounted on the left wrist, tang barrel/selector and cocking indicators. Mounted with a checkered forearm and round knob pistol grip stock with a cheekpiece, sling swivel and leather covered recoil pad. Length of pull is 13 3/4 inches to end of wood, 14 3/4 to end of pad.

The barrels and trigger guard have been professionally reblued and retain virtually all of the finish with minor handling marks and some finished over minor pitting along the edge of the forearm. The action has a smooth grayish brown patina. The stock is good with a crudely repaired crack on the right flat, a minor crack on the right side toe. The forearm is about good with a few minor chips along the upper edge, smooth checkering and a few minor pressure dents and handling marks. The leather on the recoil pad is worn heavily along the edges and shows some age cracking. The action is very good.
