This rifle, manufactured in 1886, has the Third Model integral dust cover rail, dust cover with serrated edges, and concealed trigger pin. The top of the barrel is marked "WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING-ARMS. NEW HAVEN.CT./KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH. 29. 1886. OCTOBER 16. 1860." and "44 CAL." is marked on the top of the barrel at the breech. The bottom of the brass cartridge elevator is marked "44 CAL" in script letters. The upper receiver tang is marked " MODEL. 1873. " in fancy letters flanked foliate designs and the serial number is stamped in script on the lower tang. Dovetailed blade front and adjustable rear buck horn sporting sights. Mounted with a smooth oil finished walnut forearm with steel end cap and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate with compartment containing a cleaning rod.

Very good. The rifle retains traces of the original finish on the frame, magazine, and under the lever and otherwise a mottled gray/brown patina on the exposed areas with minor marks, scratches, pitting, and dings.The forearm and stock are very good and retain varnish particularly on the forearm and wrist with some minor dings, marks, and scratches. Mechnically fine.
