Description:

This is an excellent example of a Model 1928 Thompson Submachine gun as manufactured by the Auto-Ordnance Corporation of West Hurley, New York. In 1975 the Auto-Ordnance corp again began producing a newly manufactured Model 1928 SMG. The early versions used many original WWII parts and components with the later model being made with mostly new parts and components; this example is a later version. These SMGs can be easily identified by the use of an "A" suffix on the serial number of the weapons. All these new production weapons still retained many of the earlier original style parts such as the finned barrel, Thompson-Cutts style compensator on the barrel, vertical fore grip, detachable buttstock and adjustable ladder rear sight. The left side of the receiver is marked: "U.S. MODEL 1928/No.1167A" followed by "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER .45M1". The right side is marked: "AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION/WEST HURLEY, NEW YORK, U.S.A.". This desirable weapon has the all walnut, stock, vertical fore grip and pistol grip with the later brush blued finish. It is complete with two of the later production Auto-Ordnance 50 round drum magazines, six blue 20 round stick magazines, a new manufactured steel cleaning rod, two bore and two chamber brushes, and an instruction manual. This SMG and all accessories are all housed in a reproduction black leatherette FBI case.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 99% of the brush blued finish overall showing light test firing only. The wood components are all in very fine condition with very nice looking walnut components with some heavier pressure dents on the left side of the buttstock. If you can't afford an original WWII era Thompson SMG, this might be an excellent alternative. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), Class 3, Fully Automatic Weapon that is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATF) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478. Before bidding on this weapon it is the sole responsibility and obligation of the bidder to understand and comply with all the State and Federal transfer laws and restrictions that apply in their current place of residence.
