This is one of the 579 Portuguese contract Mauser Banner M1935/06 Luger pistol manufactured for the country of Portugal. This example falls into the noted serial number range of 1,921-2,500 with v suffix, for these pistols. The chamber area has the intertwined Portuguese "GNR" (Garde Nationale Republicane) with the Mauser Banner on the front toggle link. The under side of the barrel, left side of the barrel extension and breech block have the "Crown/U" Commercial proof. The full serial number (2420) is marked on the frame, under side of the barrel and barrel extension, with the last two digits of the serial number (20) on the various small parts. The safety area is marked "SEGURANCA", with extractor marked "CARREGADA". Fitted with a nice set of checkered replacement grips and a unmarked blued magazine with the aluminum base marked "104/v/+/Eagle 63".

Fine with 70% of the faded blued finish overall with blue loss on the edges and high spots, the left side of the barrel with thinning on the grips straps. The checkered grips as noted are a replacement set with heavily worn checkering on the right side with fair checkering on the left side. The Luger has matching numbers except for the magazine as noted and the grips. Also the grip safety spring is broken/missing. A representative example of a scarce GNR marked luger pistol.
