Description:

Manufactured circa 1879 to 1886 with a German silver blade front sight (backwards), elevation adjustable rear sight and full length magazine tube. The top barrel flat is marked "WHITNEYVILLE ARMORY, CT U.S.A. KENNEDY" ahead of the rear sight and "40 CAL C.F." at the breech. The serial number is marked on the lower tang while the patent dates are marked on the upper tang. Mounted on a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a steel forend tip and crescent buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included). The front screw is absent on the dust cover.

Rating Definition:

Good. The rifle has an overall gray patina with some light brown patina, oxidation, and some light pitting. The wood is very good with only minor dings, dents, and scratches. Mechanically excellent with clear markings.
