Description:

A descendant of Hiram Maxim's machine gun, the PM1910 (Pulemyot Maxima, Model of 1910) was the main-line machine gun of Imperial Russia, and later the Soviet Union, during World War I through 1943, when the SG-43 came on the scene. At some point, the weapon fell into the hands of the Finnish Army, likely during the Winter or Continuation Wars, and like so much other Soviet hardware it was tested, stamped and sent back out into the field against it's original owners. Measuring 43 inches in overall length, with the blade front sight left-offset on the ribbed water jacket and a solid staff adjustable rear sight on the dust cover, which bears the Finnish Army "SA" cartouche and "Korj. 1944" overhaul markings. The left side of the receiver is fitted with the burst pattern selector, while the right bears the ejector port and the cocking handle, the rear has the dual-thumb trigger along with hardwood spade grips, and fitted to the underside is a fine-tunable elevation adjustment knob. The gun is installed in a Sokolov wheeled mount, painted green to match the water jacket, 25 inches wide across the metal banded wood wheels, 46 inches long.

Rating Definition:

Good as assembled. The water jacket shows 85% of the green paint finish, with some streaking and loss, and the receiver shows a mixed brown patina with light spotting. The carriage is in very good condition, with mild wear on the wheels and some components left in the bright. NOTE: This is an inert display item, built using a new-built non-functional receiver with components culled from multiple donor weapons.
