"WS" Target Model revolver manufactured by P. Webley & Son circa 1904. The revolver has an octagon barrel with integral sighting rib and adjustable blued target front sight. A drift adjustable target rear sight is mounted on the frame. The revolver has a wide trigger with knurled face and hammer with knurled spur. The barrel, cylinder, frame and trigger guard have a high polish blue finish. The hammer, trigger and cylinder retainer are bright. The two-piece grips are walnut with fine checkering. The lanyard ring on the butt has been removed. "P. WEBLEY & SON. LONDON & BIRMINGHAM." is roll-stamped on the top of the barrel rib. ""WS" TARGET MODEL" is roll-stamped on the left side of the top strap. "WEBLEY/PATENTS" followed by the winged bullet trademark is roll-stamped on the left side of the frame above the trigger guard. A small British military "Broad Arrow" is stamped on the left side of the hammer although this appear to be a commercial production revolver. Birmingham "Crown/N.P., Crown/B.P." and "Crown/B.V." proof and inspection marks are stamped on the left side of the barrel lug and on each chamber of the cylinder. The serial number "447035" is stamped on the right side of the frame and "035" is stamped on the rear face of the cylinder. The revolver is complete with a British style oak case lined with green baize. The case has four compartments and has a "PHILIP WEBLEY AND SON" label on the inside of the lid. The case contains a plastic covered brass cleaning rod, nickel-plated front sight cover, rear sight cover, cleaning rod jag, and key.

Very fine. The revolver retains 70% of the commercial blue finish with moderate handling wear. There are vice marks on both sides of the barrel lug. The high points of the barrel, frame and cylinder show moderate edge wear. The grips straps, butt and trigger guard show more wear and have a silver-gray patina. The grips show moderate-heavy handling wear and are in good overall condition. The action is tight and functions well. The case exterior, lining and label are in nearly new condition; the interior label indicates that the case dates from the 1930s and is not original to the revolver, but the case is a modern reproduction. This is a very good example of a high quality Webley "WS" Target Model DA revolver.
