The exact rifle is pictured on page 243 of THE GUNS OF REMINGTON and was produced in 1903. Remington manufactured approximately 1,446 of these sporting rifles. Marked "REMINGTON ARMS Co. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A." on top of the left receiver rail followed by the serial number, "PATENTED AUG. 26th 1884, SEPT. 9th 1884. MARCH 17th 1885, JAN. 18th 1887." on the left side of the receiver and the one line address on top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight. The underside of the barrel ahead of the forearm is marked "38-72". Blade front and adjustable peep hole rear sights. All blue finish and mounted with a one-piece walnut half stock with an ebony insert in the schnabel forend with grasping grooves and multi-point checkered round knob pistol grip with a Remington Arms logo buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The rifle retains 75% of the original blue finish with the finish thinning on the breech end of the barrel, some finish absent on the right side of the receiver. The magazine and triggerguard have an aged brown/gray patina. The stock is very good with some minor scratches, dings, and marks and "J Puvo" carved into the left side of the butt. Mechanically fine.
