This rifle has a seven grooved rifle barrel with blade front sight and engraved bands at the breech and near the muzzle. It is equipped with an adjustable notch sight on the tang (is loose). "Joh Kugler" script is marked on the lock plate engraved with a leaf type border, floral pattern around the screws and star burst under the bolster, with ornamental wing nuts. It has brass furniture, a single set trigger and wood ramrod with horn tip. The hammer and nipple are reversed. It is fitted with a full length, checkered, straight grip stock with raised cheekpiece, hardware for a sling and brass crescent buttplate. The forend tip is missing. The forearm has a small area of checkering with a silver initial oval surrounded by a leaf carving on the underside.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The barrel retains 30% of the original blue finish mixed with a smooth brown patina. The rest of the iron surfaces exhibit a smooth gray patina. There is a threaded hole on top of the frame near the bolster. The brass has a smooth yellow patina mixed with a smooth dark patina. There are some minor dings on the brass. The stock is near fine with the exception of some minor dings, dents, chips and scratches. A 5 inch long chunk of wood is missing from the right side of the forearm, with a 7 inch long crack. The end cap is also missing (see photo). The underside of the buttstock has a large chip. There are some minor dings in the overall very good checkering. There is some moderate pitting at the breech. Hammer functions but is very stiff. The marking and engraving are clear.
