Description:

The 98K was the primary service rifle as used by all Nazi forces throughout the war. This is a mid-WWII production manufactured by the Steyr factory, that has the desirable "single" lightning bolt/rune on the receiver. This designates issue to the most feared of all Nazi forces, the SS. The top of the receiver is marked "bnz/single rune/ 43", the wartime code for Steyr-Daimler and the year of manufacture. The right side of the receiver ring has the single "Eagle/77" waffenamt proof with a single "Eagle" firing proof on the left side of the receiver and barrel. It is fitted with the mid-war stamped components, barrel bands, trigger guard and floor plate. It is fitted with the standard laminated stock and handguard that has a single "Eagle/WaA18" stock proof in the lower toe area with no other proofmarks. The stock is fitted with a cupped sheet metal buttplate. Complete with a cleaning rod and sheet metal front sight cover.

Rating Definition:

Very good as partially restored with 40% of the faded blue finish still remaining overall, mostly in the protected areas with the exposed metal surfaces having turned a light brown patina. The front exposed section of the barrel has completely browned out and is showing minor light pitting on the top. The stock and handguard have been redyed brown (not sanded) with a light coat of varnish on top. It has a correct matching bolt and trigger guard, the barrel bands have been replaced and re-numbered to match the rifle. A scarce mid-WWII Steyr K98 rifle.
