Description:

Blade front and notch rear sights, with a "PROVE.'" stamp on the left barrel flat, the lockplate has a crown behind the hammer and "1862/TOWER" below the breech. The barrel tang screw is marked "5599" as is the forend cap and the front barrel band. The second barrel band markings are faded but "59" can still be read. The trigger guard tang is marked "29". The buttplate, trigger guard, barrel bands, forend cap, and side plate mountings are brass. Fitted on a smooth wrist stock with ramrod. This quite possibly could have seen use during the Civil War.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The carbine features a mottled gray patina with some minor oxidation and pitting. The brass components have an attractive bright aged patina. The stock has various minor chips, dings, scratches, and marks with a series of pressure dents on the right side of the butt. The saddle ring bar has been removed during the period of usage. Mechanically functions fine.
