Description:

This small wheellock pistol is only 10 1/2 inches in total length with a straight grip and features a fixed front sight, belt hook, sliding pan cover, and ornate Italian style wire inlay on the stock at the breech, wrist, butt, in front of the trigger guard, and at the forend. Disassembly reveals that there is no mechanism remaining behind the wheel portion of the lock mechanism. It has a lightly engraved trigger guard enclosing a finely formed trigger. The butt is encircled with an engraved band with wire inlay on the butt. The barrel has an unidentified proofmark at the breech and the lockplate has no visible markings. A grip piece/band and part of the front band are absent. Includes a wooden ramrod.

Rating Definition:

Good, incomplete internally. The pistol retains traces of the old refinished finish with nearly all of the dark case colors on the lockplate retained and the finish thinning and partially worn on the barrel particularly on the edges and upper flat. A brown patina and oxidation is seen on the exposed metal areas. The wire inlay and accents are a deeper gray with some oxidation on the right side and a brighter silver on the left. The belt hook and trigger guard remain partially bright with some oxidation. The wood is good with some variation in color, some scratches, and dents as well as a crack on the right below the lockplate and some slivers missing on the upper edges at the muzzle. The action is not functional and the front of the trigger guard is loose.
