This rifle was a modification of the Model 1902 without a traditional trigger. The rifle is fired by depressing the trigger with the thumb which is part of the sear and extractor located behind the bolt. Standard markings and features including "THUMB TRIGGER MODEL" and 1899 and 1905 patent dates marked on top of the barrel. Fixed sights and one-piece straight grip gumwood stained stock with a black hard rubber Winchester buttplate. Winchester sold approx. 76,000 of these rifles between 1904 and 1923.
Fine overall with 50% of the original blue finish. The balance has aged to a thin brown with areas of mottled gray/brown patina. Displaying some light handling marks, surface scratches and edge wear. The wood is fine with scattered light scratches and pressure indentations throughout. Mechanically very good.
Manufactured between 1902 and 1931. Features fixed sights, knurled cocking piece and a contoured trigger guard/grip. Mounted on a single piece smooth gumwood stock with a checkered hard rubber Winchester buttplate.
Fine overall with 50% of the original blue finish displaying some areas that have aged to a thin mottled brown, as well as edge wear, surface scratches and minor dings throughout. The wood is fair with areas of moderate to heavy abrasions, scattered moderate scratches and some deep indentations. Mechanically good.
