The 1886 is considered one of the finest and strongest lever actions ever made by Winchester. This example was manufactured in 1893 with a casehardened receiver and a longer than standard barrel. With a beaded half moon blade front sight and adjustable sporting rear sight marked: "- MANUFACTURED BY THE-/-WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN.CONN.U.S.A.-" ahead of the rear sight followed by "40-82 W.C.F." at the breech. The lower tang is marked with the two line patent information behind the trigger and has the serial number at the rear. The upper tang is roll-stamped "-MODEL 1886-". It has a smooth forend with steel endcap and straight grip buttstock with steel crescent buttplate.

Fine. The barrel and magazine retain 60% of the fading blue finish with a brown patina on the balance. The casehardened components have mostly silvered out and have some light pitting and oxidation. There are spots of oil staining on the metal from when the stock was re-oiled. The balance of wood has small marks and light scratches overall. The action is fine, and the markings are clear.
