The rifle was manufactured in 1894 and is fitted with a special order part octagon barrel and a special order short "button" magazine. It has a replacement beaded blade front sight and a sporting rear sight (elevator absent). It has the standard 19th century Winchester markings. The upper tang is tapped for peep sight mounting, and it is fitted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight wrist stock with standard rifle buttplate.

Very good. The original finish has faded to a brown patina with some traces remaining, spots of mild pitting and oxidation over the balance. The reoiled wood is good with some small scrapes and dings, a crack/loose sliver on the right at the junction with the back of the frame, and a crack on the left at the wrist. The action is fine, and the markings are clear.
