Manufactured in 1899. This rifle has the Third Model integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrated edges and standard markings. It features dovetailed blade front and rear adjustable sporting sights. The upper tang has the standard model designation. It is mounted with a smooth oil finished walnut forearm with steel end cap and straight grip stock with a casehardened crescent buttplate. The right side of the butt has a six pointed brass star inlay with "PATENTED/JAN. 17. 1878". This inlay is appears to be a piece from a "Boyd’s Battery Galvanic Pendant". These pendants were believed to impart health benefits based on their galvanic electrical properties in the late 19th century.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The rifle retains traces of blue finish in the protected areas and on the magazine tube and otherwise has a dark gray-brown patina with some light pitting. The wood is fine with minor pressure marks and scratches. The action functions fine, and the markings are legible.
