The factory letter confirms that the rifle was received in the warehouse on October 29, 1896, and shipped the same day as part of order 21978 in rifle configuration with a .25-20 chambered, #1 weight, 30 inch, round barrel; plain trigger; and "Midrange" and "Wind gauge" sights. In addition, it features an elevation adjustable sporting rear sight, thick wall frame, standard factory address and patent marking, caliber designation at the breech, serial number on the lower tang, single set trigger, and smooth walnut stock and forearm with ebony insert and rifle buttplate.

Excellent. 98% plus of the original blue finish remains. There are some minor handling and storage marks. 97% plus of the original vivid case colors remain with most of the fading confined to the buttplate and lever. The wood is also very fine with only a few light scratches and dings. It is mechanically excellent and has crisp markings.
